Reference: Accident Hempstead County Road 3, D.W.I. Arrest
At approximately 7:09 PM on February 5, 2012 Deputy Jim Bush was dispatched to the 4200 block of Hempstead 3 in reference to an accident.
Upon his arrival Deputy Bush spoke with the driver Theodore Johnson. Johnson stated that a deer ran in front of him he swerved to the right to miss it and he said all he knows after that is the back end came around and he lost control. deputy Bush observed that the vehicle did slide across the road hit a natural gas meter and then slid into a culvert and flipped back onto the road. Pafford EMS picked him up and he refused treatment. While deputy Bush was speaking with Johnson, he detected a slight odor of alcohol. Deputy Bush stated that Johnson told other officers on the scene that he had a couple of drinks earlier in the day. Johnson was given several field sobriety test which he failed. Johnson was placed under arrest for D. W. I. and taken to the Hempstead County Detention Center and booked for driving with suspended license and Driving While Intoxicated.
